DCM Chevrons

It's Nat's turn to set the dare over at Daring Cardmakers this week. Nat wants us to pay special homage to that very popular design element that is doing the rounds....

The Chevron

Here is my card....

Chevrons are everywhere lately and I had lots of papers to choose from but opted for this beautiful paper from MME Love Me collection.  I wanted too use something bright rather than softer colours on this card.  I started off with kraft cardstock as my base and then layered the chevron paper.  I inked both kraft and PP with PI Fresh Snow to give the edges a softer look.

The butterfly stamp is from Darkroom Doors and I just love it!  I inked with PI Fresh Snow and stamped on to kraft cardstock.  I wasn't up to cutting it out with my kraft knife, as it can get fiddly with those point wings! So cut out with my trusty Fiskars scissors.  As the butterfly looked quite plain, I decided to add a small ivory tea rose to the centre and some small round stick pins as antennas.

The sentiment is part of the same set at the butterfly from Darkroom Doors.  I inked it in Memento Lady Bug Red ink on to white cardstock.  I wanted to cut it out with one of my nesties but the sentiment was too tall for them so just snipped it out instead.  I added a little chevron stitching to the edges to give interest.

Quite a quick and simple card but I do love my butterflies and might just keep this card for myself!

DCM 'Thank You'

This week at Daring Cardmakers, it's Zuzana's turn to dare us.

She has challenged us to make a....

...with absolutely freedom of using colours, shapes, embellishments, techniques ... So Simple!

Here's my card....

I used papers from Cosmo Cricket's Tea for Two and added a band of natural crochet lace. The bunch of cherry blossoms look so cute in this little jar from WMS.

I stamped the jar in grey ink and lightly coloured the jar with blue ink to give an impression of water, although as my photo is so poor you can't really see this so I'll take a new daytime photo tomorrow. The sentiment is also from WMS.

TRR Challenge #37 Chevrons

Welcome friends to another fun fortnightly challenge at The Ribbon Reel!  It's my turn to host this week and I've chosen this fabulous inspiration photo .....

and ask that you create a card/project inspired by the PASTEL COLOURS in the photo and include CHEVRONS & RIBBONS!

Here is my card...

I loved this challenge and had tons of ideas of what I wanted to create. I opted to use one of the new kraft Chevron Bitty Bags from the shop as my centrepiece. I added a spellbinder label folded over the top of the bag held together with a mini wooden peg as a closure. The sweet shabby tea roses add the finishing touch to the bitty bag along with some aqua swirly pearls!

I used papers from MME Be Happy and sewed around the edge of the card before adding some iced lime seam binding and a cute lemon yellow button tied on with some ivory button twine. Not forgetting the little label, which is a stamp from WMS's Big Berries Strawberry Set (love this set).

Please check out the rest of the DT's card, they are super gorgeous!
