Marie Antoinette
Your card doesn't have to feature the Queen herself, but can be in a Baroque/Palace of Versailles style, or something inspired by the fantastic gowns and wigs she wore. Or, you could even opt for a 'let them eat cake' inspired card (even though she apparently never actually said that!)
Here is my card...
I was stumped for a while what to create and this slowly fell together. I'm not totally happy with it but still had such fun creating it. I'm trying to break out of my keep simple style and challenge myself using different colour schemes, techniques or products.
I was so lucky to find this sweet image in my stash from Crafty Secrets which fits the challenge perfectly! I placed it behind a chipboard frame which I covered with crackle glaze.
This beautiful soft peach rose is from Prima (I think!), I added a mini 'with love' tag and placed on top of a double from baby pink seam binding. I also folded a paper doily into a cone shape and tucked behind the bow.
I actually decided on creating this beautiful paper ruffle at the start of making my card, inspired by the truly talented Clare Buswell (you can find a tutorial on how to create these on her blog!). Okay, so it is no where near as good as Clare's but as my first attempt, I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I added a length of Ivory & Lace pearl trim to hide where the papers meet.
Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT cards for some beautiful inspiration.
