DCM 'Ink It Up'

It's Friday and time for another fun challenge over at Daring Cardmakers.  It's my turn to set the dare this week and I've chosen...

Ink It Up!

I'd like to see cards using ink - there are lots of choices, perhaps you could ink up an image or patterned stamp, or even use spray inks to create a background.  Let's see how inventive we can be with this crafty basic!

Here is my card....

I decided to use only the craft items that were closest to me to make my card, so neutrals it is then!  I started with some pretty papers from MME The Sweetest Thing Lavender set.  I added a paper doily topped with a nestie label.  The little cluster is a small seam binding ribbon and natural crochet lace tied in bows, a white cherry blossom and a couple of white heart pins.

For the 'ink it up' part of the challenge, I stamped a DRD butterfly stamp in Sahara Sand adding a few pearls to the body.  I also grabbed my recent purchase from Paper Sweeties, a set of sentiments, I settled with 'Celebrate Your Day' also inked with Sahara Sand.

Don't forget to check out the beautiful cards from the DT.

Supplies used:
Cardstock - MME The Sweetest Thing Lavender from The Ribbon Reel
Stamps - DRD Butterfly, You Make Me Smile from Paper Sweeties
Ribbon - Chalk White Seam Binding and 10mm Natural Crochet Lace from The Ribbon Reel
Other - Snow White Pearl Adhesives, Paper Doily, Cherry Blossom, Heart Pins - all from The Ribbon Reel, Nesties, Sahara Sand Ink

DCM 'Springing into Spring'

After having a bit of time away from crafting and blogging, I am slowly getting back to normal.  It's Friday so that means a new challenge over at Daring Cardmakers, and such a great challenge to come back to.

Beckie would like to challenge you to make a card with a 'spring' on it somewhere.

And now for a little special treat for one lucky person!

This week digital stamp store 'Little Blue Button' is sponsoring the dare and have a $10 gift certificate to give away!

All you need to do is leave a link as usual to show us your finished creation and you'll be entered into the prize draw. The winner will be picked at random and announced ahead of next week's dare (Friday 5th April). Big thank you to Little Blue Button for offering this cool prize! Don't forget to check out their store, http://digitaldesignsby.blogspot.co.uk/ maybe there's something there to inspire your 'Springy' card creation!

Here is my card.....

I had so many ideas for this card but settled with using some beautiful spring colours, flowers and this super cute wooden deer.  Oh and not forgetting the little wire springs stems of the flowers.  All of these things remind me of spring.

The seam binding double bow was layered with a white cherry blossom and pink roses.  I curled the stems of the flowers to look like little 'spring's for the challenge.  I added a little amount of stickles to the pink roses and tucked a few little leaves behind the roses.

I really liked how this card turned out and it felt great to be crafting again.  Thanks for such a great challenge Beckie!

TRR #45 Home Spun

Welcome friends to another fun fortnightly challenge at The Ribbon Reel this fortnight!  It's Jeanne's turn to host this week.

Jeanne has chosen this gorgeous photo to inspire us .....

and ask that you create a card / project inspired by the photo plus use BURLAP and RIBBON.

Here is my card....

I played around with a few apple images but wasn't happy with the results so opted to stick with the colours from Jeanne's inspiration photo.

I was inspired by the wooden apple basket and the wooden table and found this gorgeous wooden board/plank paper from MME to use as my background.  I added a small strip of this fab 50mm wide brown Burlap ribbon and frayed the edges slightly.

The little kraft bag was topped with a sentiment from WMS and I used a red crochet flower from my stash (had it for ages and no idea where it came from!), a small prima flower and a sweet red tea rose.  The rose has a few dots of stickles, not sure how well it can be seen in the photo though.  Then I finished with a seam binding bow in brique.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the design team's creations, you'll definitely feel inspired by them and I hope you can join in.

Supplies used:
Cardstock - MME Dilly Dally from The Ribbon Reel
Ribbon - 50mm Wired Brown Burlap, Brique Seam Binding from The Ribbon Reel
Flowers - 25mm Red Tea Rose, Prima Delightful Glory from The Ribbon Reel

DCM Embossability

It's Friday and time for another challenge over at Daring Cardmakers.  This week it's my turn to set the challenge....

'Embossability'

I'd like you to make a card / project and use embossing of some kind, either wet or dry embossing, let's see some texture!

Here is my card....

With all the snow around at the moment, I decided to go with lots of white!  I started with embossing some kraft card using the Classical Beauty embossing folder from Sizzix and wiping Fresh Snow Ink across the top.  I added it to some musical note paper from MME Be Happy.

I used my circle PTI dies to create the labels using paper from MME Be Happy.  The sentiment stickers are from MME The Sweetest Thing Tiny Words, they are so sweet! I added some tea roses, natural button twine and snow white pearls.

I just love this tiny rose trim, it's just the right size for my A6 cards.  I added a strip of script washi tape underneath and a few more pearls to the centre of each rose.

Don't forget to check the rest of the beautiful cards from the rest of the Design Team.

Supplies used:
Cardstock - MME Be Happy from The Ribbon Reel, Kraft cardstock
Dies - PTI Circles
Flowers - 25mm Off White/Pale Pink Tea Roses from The Ribbon Reel
Other - MME Tiny Words, Snow White Pearls, Script Washi Tape - all from The Ribbon Reel, Sizzix Classical Beauty folder, Sheer Rose Trim from Tim Holtz

DCM 'The Thrill Of It All'

It's Friday and time for another challenge over at Daring Cardmakers.  It's Leo's turn to set the dare the challenge and she would like you to incorporate some kind of frill on your card.

It could be a frilly embellishment or background or maybe a stamp you have that would work. Anything that's fun and frilly!

Here's my card.....

I already knew that I would do a ribbon frill / pleat of some kind as soon as I saw this challenge.  I bought some new papers recently so had a look through to see what caught my eye and found some beautiful MME Meadow papers.  I loved the fresh spring colour and added a white layer to add some contrast between the patterned paper.

To keep this crisp and clean look, I printed a butterfly sentiment from Pink Petticoat.  The butterflies are cut with my PTI die using the same Meadow papers.

After playing around with the layout for a little while, I decided to add my frill / pleat ribbon to the bottom of the card and layer the butterflies fluttering from it.  To finish I added some pearl hearts to the centre of each butterfly.

Don't forget to checkout the rest of the Design Team's creative frilly cards and also welcome our new Guest Designer, Beckie!

Challenges:

Supplies:
Cardstock - MME Six by Six Meadow from The Ribbon Reel
Ribbon - 9mm Grosgrain Spring Moss from The Ribbon Reel
Sentiment from Pink Petticoat (sorry I cannot remember which set)
Other - Nesties and Ivory Silk Pearl Hearts from The Ribbon Reel

TRR Challenge #44 'Winter Wonderland'

Welcome friends to another fun fortnightly challenge at The Ribbon Reel!  It's Debbie's turn to host this week.

Debbie has chosen this beautiful photo .....

and ask that you create a card / project inspired by the colours from the photo and include a
SNOWMAN or SNOWFLAKE plus
RIBBON/TWINE/TRIM.

Here is my card....

MME must be one of my favourite brands and I just love these papers.  I layered the papers as the base of my card.  I used a MME journalling card, which I cut to size, distressed and used my punch to create the notebook edge.  I added a paper doily and a little black patterned paper behind it, in an attempt to create some layers (those that know me, will know layers don't come naturally to me!)

I used the fabulous star stamp from WMS as my focal point which I cut by hand and added a white glittered chipboard snowflake on top and topped with a little Christmas sentiment, also from WMS.  I added some MME washi tape and brad from MME and some rancho red seam binding, which I distressed with crushed shell Glimmer Mist.

Don't forget to check out the gorgeous creations from the rest of the Design Team.

DCM January Colour Combo Challenge

Happy New Year to everyone!

And what a great start it is, Leo has set our first colour combo challenge of the year over at Daring Cardmakers and it involves one of my favourite colours, teal.

I used a dark teal paper from MME for my base and then layered kraft cardstock that I embossed with my Sizzix Classical Beauty folder, creating a beautiful pattern which I inked with PTI Fresh Snow to help it stand out.

I then used two strips of musical note washi tape either side of the silky crush ribbon band.  The central labels are from my ever growing and much loved nesties collection.  The sentiment is from WMS's Say It Loud Set, another favourite of mine.

To finish the card I added a couple of layered butterflies and a few shabby tea roses.  I didn't have the colour roses I wanted so I decided to raid my glimmer mists and see if I could create the colour I needed.  I sprayed the white roses first with Electric Blue and then to help tone the blue down, I used Crushed Shell on top.  I love the two-tone result, which doesn't seem to show too well in the photo.

This is the first of many Thank You cards that I need to send out to family and friends to thank them for their wonderful and thoughtful gifts last month.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the Design Team's beautiful creations this week.  We'd love to see you join in the fun with this months gorgeous colour combo challenge.

Ribbon - Silky Crush Teal from The Ribbon Reel
Flowers - 25mm Off White Tea Roses from The Ribbon Reel
