DCM 'Material Girl'

This week it's my turn to set the dare over at Daring Cardmakers and I have chosen

"Material Girl"

Use fabric on your creations - not just a bit of ribbon or lace though - that would be too easy! You can add those too, of course, but we'd really like you to be a little more adventurous and try using some fabric as a background, or to make embellishments from. We're really looking forward to seeing what you come up with, so good luck and happy crafting.

Here is my card...

This sentiment seemed appropriate as we sadly lost my nan a week ago. Unfortunately it wasn't expected so has come as a huge shock to our family and especially my mum. She will always be in our thoughts and our hearts.

I just love MME papers and adore the little bunting and butterfly. The seemed to fit perfectly with this card. With everything going on at home, I slightly failed my own challenge, only using fabric roses and a little lace. I am so pleased with how it turned out though.

Thanks for stopping by and hopefully normal crafting/blogging will resume soon.

DYSU #64 'Plaid'

We have a new challenge up on the Do You Stack Up? blog today, and one we can all have lots of fun with.....

Here is my card....

The design team were lucky enough to use images from our sponsors. I got to use this totally cute little giraffe from Pink Gem Designs. How cute is this? I saw it and knew it had to be turned into a baby theme card. I suddenly panicked, wondering how I was going to incorporate plaid, as I had no pretty baby colours! Instead I choose to keep the plaid to a minimum.

This weeks sponsors ...

TRR Challenge #24 'Pretty as a Posey'

Welcome friends to another fun fortnightly challenge! Debbie is our fabulous host this week at The Ribbon Reel Challenge blog, and she has chosen this beautiful inspiration photo.....

...and ask that you create a card /project using PINK, YELLOW, AQUA & NEUTRALS WITH FLOWERS & RIBBONS

Here is my card...

Debbie has set such a super challenge this week, I just love this colour combo, although struggled to find yellow much yellow items in my stash. I went with pink and blue paper from Websters Pages (free with Crafts Beautiful magazine this month), added a beautiful pink gardenia and a sweet yellow rose. The loop trim is actually ivory but looks more of a yellow in real life and I added a little pink lace bow.

Supplies used:
Cardstock - Webster Pages, MME
Flowers - Pink Gardenia and Yellow Rose from The Ribbon Reel
Ribbon - Ivory Loop Trim and Pink Crochet Lace from The Ribbon Reel
Stamp - WMS Compact Sentiments

DCM 'Lucky Green'

It's Samm's turn to dare us this week at Daring Cardmakers and Samm has chosen

'Lucky Green'

Yes, St Patricks day is on its way, so I challenge you to make a card using the main colour as green and feature 'luck' somewhere on your card. It's one of those colours we hardly ever get to use so I hope it gets you all digging around in your crafty stash and creating frantically!

Here is my card...

I don't often use green but this card just came together so easily. I found this MME Alphabet Soup paper which was perfect for this card. I layered it on to some kraft cardstock and added a cream gardenia blossom as a central focus. I wanted to use a shamrock really but couldn't find anything that really worked.

The silky crush ribbon was ruffled to add texture and after searching through my whole stash (which is quite alot!), and failing to find a good luck stamp / rub on etc., I found this little St Pat's label, which I secured using apple green bakers twine.

Supplies used:
Cardstock - Kraft, MME Alphabet Soup
Ribbon - Parrot Green Silky Crush and Apple Green Bakers Twine from The Ribbon Reel
Flower - Cream Gardenia Blossom from The Ribbon Reel
Label - Making Memories Calender Events tags

DYSU #63 Favourite Colour

So what's your favourite colour? That's the challenge on Do You Stack Up this week. I don't have just one, but my favourite would be pink, teal and aqua.

Here is my card....

Some of the DT were able to use images from our sponsors this week, I have used this beautiful 'Ballerina' image from Little Darlings. Pink seemed the perfect colour for this card.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and added some sweet prima flowers. I layered kraft cardstock, MME paper and pink silky crush ribbon from The Ribbon Reel, and added a WMS sentiment. Quite a simple card but love how it turned out!

This week we have three sponsors:

Winner's Choice of 3 Digis

Prima Flower Headband

I have so many ideas or things I'd like to try and make that I keep a 'to do list'. So far this year I haven't ticked off anything....until this week! I don't really wear headbands myself but love how beautiful they look.

Prima flowers are just perfect for all types of projects, not just cardmaking and scrapbooking. I chose a mixture of soft natural colours that would suit most hair/skin types.

The headband is from Prima and I used a hot glue gun to adhere the flowers to the headband, slightly overlapping the larger two flowers and just glued the smallest on top of the large flower. Just love how it turned out and will definitely be making some more. Simple but beautiful!

Supplies used:
Headband - Prima
Flowers - Prima: Cartier Driftwood, Dechire Creme, Delightful Glory from The Ribbon Reel
Other - hot glue!

DCM 'Tessellation'

This week has just flown by so quickly and I cannot believe it is Friday again! This week it's Leo's turn at Daring Cardmakers with our next dare.....

'Tessellation'

Leo would like us to create a card featuring a tessellation pattern. You can probably remember doing tessellation in math class at school right? Basically, all you're doing is making a pretty pattern with shapes that fit together perfectly on all sides, like tiling. It's up to you how you interpret the dare, so it could be a pattern on a paper already made or even a pattern you make yourself, have fun!

Here is my card....
This was such a fun challenge and so many options and designs. I kept changing my mind and have 2 other cards that are half finished but went with this one. I used a very simple grid / square patterned paper as my tessellation design. I just love MME papers and again didn't want to cover up the little details so kept the bike image in view.

I was also excited to use one of my new WMS stamps that arrived yesterday morning. I went with the 'sweet birthday wishes' sentiment from the 'compact sentiment set'.

Please check out the rest of the fun and inspirational cards from the rest of the DT this week!

I'm also entering this into the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #87 and flipped the sketch around so that the ribbon did not obstruct the patterned paper.

Supplies used:
Cardstock - MME Follow Your Heart Be Charming from The Ribbon Reel
Ribbon - Oatmeal Seam Binding from The Ribbon Reel
Stamps - WMS Compact Sentiments
Other - Nesties, Prima Delightful Day Flower from The Ribbon Reel

DYSU #62 'Go Green'

We have a super challenge over at Do You Stack Up this week....

Here is my card...

I struggled with this challenge and had planned to recycle materials to create a card but this didn't work out so re-thought, Go Green also made me think about natural products. I opted for using green (on the leaves), a stamped rose (nature), and a few natural (ish) products, natural cotton lace, wood effect paper and lace effect paper.

I love this WMS rose stamp but wasn't brave enough to colour it and decided to stamp on some beautiful MME paper and cut out. I stamped the image twice (although you cannot see from this photo) and cut the central petals out again and layered them up. I also stamped the leaves straight on to patterned paper and scored along the centre and shaped them.

This week we have three sponsors:
Winner's Choice of 4 Images

Winner's Choice of 10 Digis

Winner's Choice of 5 Digis

Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's beautiful cards.

Challenges:

Cardstock - MME Miss Caroline Fiddlesticks from The Ribbon Reel
Stamp - WMS In Bloom Stamp Set
Ribbon - Cream Scallop Cotton Lace from The Ribbon Reel
Other - Nesties

TRR Challenge #23 'Newsprint'

Welcome friends to another fun fortnightly challenge at The Ribbon Reel! It's my turn to host this fortnight and I've chosen chosen this beautiful inspiration photo.....

...and ask that you create a card /project using the colours NEWSPRINT/BOOK PRINT plus RIBBONS!
Here is my card...

I had intended to use book print as the main background paper but some times when you are crafting things take a different turn. I love the MME paper and it seemed a shame to hide all those sweet details - I think you can just see the little brown butterfly hidden by my large bow!

Don't forget to check out the stunning cards created by the rest of the DT!

Supplies used:
Ribbons - 32mm Ivory Silk, 20mm Cream Floral Lace and Natural Button Twine from The Ribbon Reel
Paper - MME Breeze from The Ribbon Reel
Stamps - Darkroom Door Butterflies Stamp set from The Ribbon Reel
Other - Off White Shabby Tea Rose from The Ribbon Reel, Nesties, Book print, Button

DCM March Colour Combo

This week is the third of our 'Colour Combo of the Month Challenges' at Daring Cardmakers and it's Kathy's turn to choose the colours...

Caramel, Pale Lemon, Duck-egg Blue
and a touch of Gold

Here is my card...

This was such a gorgeous colour combo, although I struggled to find the right shades to match exactly. I used various MME papers to create the layers, the sentiment is from WMS' Roses in Bloom set stamped in gathered twigs Distress Ink. The beautiful bloom is made with the Spellbinders Blossom One die, I gently curled the edge of the petals to help shape it. I hand cut the brown leaves and tucked behind the rose. I added a little scallop lace and button twine to finish the card.

I made this card with my mum in mind for Mothers Day, although didn't really think through sending such a bulky card overseas - hopefully it won't get too squashed!!

Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's cards.
